Urbaani Legenda Treasure Market takes visitors on a visual journey through time

Urbaani Legenda, a second-hand shop that recently opened in the Torikorttelit area and that combines interior design with fashion, takes visitors on a visual journey through time. The shop’s vintage treasures and new items charm visitors amidst the city’s urban pulse.  

Upon stepping into the new Urbaani Legenda shop, visitors are enchanted by the floral scent and the pastel-coloured clothes racks decorated with colourful knitwear, lace dresses and eye-catching patterns. Visitors’ eyes are drawn to the myriad details, such as the set of items consisting of a gold-framed mirror, cocktail glasses and other interior design items.  

A love of vintage has taken the founder all over the world

The selection reflects the life journey of Tiia Ikonen, the founder of Urbaanin Legenda, with different places and decades intertwining to form a visual whole. Tiia, who has loved old objects and vintage clothes since she was little, was captivated by flea markets and the world they opened up to her even as a child. Her enthusiasm has taken her to different parts of the world. “When I’m travelling, rather than going to see tourist attractions, I head straight for the local markets, vintage shops, flea markets and second-hand shops first.”

The shop features a uniquely beautiful selection of vintage interior decor, which Tiia gathers from her favourite markets while scouring the hidden corners of Europe’s antique markets. Every item is chosen out of a love and passion for the enchanting aesthetics of vintage items. The interior design seamlessly combines new items with antique and vintage finds brought back from Italy and elsewhere in Europe. 

“I like to combine different decades with a relaxed approach, and I trust my own visual judgement,” Tiia says, explaining her philosophy. “I also encourage others to trust their own intuition and taste more boldly, so that they can find their own interior design and clothing style.” 

A comprehensive lifestyle shop  

Urbaani Legenda operated as a pop-up shop in the Torikorttelit area during the last Christmas season, during which time it received a very warm welcome. Visitors were captivated by the shop and liked the concept, and they hoped it would continue. Urbaani Legenda offers a gentle new approach as a lifestyle shop, and its product selection features vintage treasures from various decades, as well as new interior design items and lovely, high-quality outfits selected with heart. 

“The Torikorttelit area is the heart of Helsinki, offering a magnificent historical setting, as well as local traffic and tourists. The urban pulse of the location fits in perfectly with our own concept.”  

Customers come to find inspiration 

Urbaani Legenda’s shops have gained regular customers who visit the shops every week to soak up the atmosphere and find inspiration. For them, admiring the beautiful products is also a way to clear their thoughts at the end of the week. Tiia considers her greatest success in creating a commercial space to be the fact that people feel a sense of delight and enthrallment when they step into the shop. 

Regular customers from Mariankatu have also found their way to Torikorttelit without any trouble. “I’m expecting a busy summer, and I hope to be able to serve many new and returning customers,” Tiia says enthusiastically.
